I'll never capitalize cancer

I have alot going on in my life, more than just cancer and chemo. Sure it's a big part of my life right now, but it's not the most important part of my life. You will never see me spell it with a capital "c".

I'm a Wife and Mom. I love my Family. I have good Friends. We do fun stuff and dumb stuff and sometimes we argue and then we laugh again. We go to work and to the grocery store and we go swimming and have birthday parties and get ready for the first day of school.

I keep saying that I don't want ovarian cancer to define me, but sometimes I just can't help it.

A good friend put it this way for me "cancer may be defining your life for the moment, but it is not your entire life. You seem to just make time for it." That made me feel better.

If you want to see it from the beginning, my cancer story begins in March.

The rest of my story is happening now.

Fun stuff from the Weekend

This post has nothing to with Advocare, except for my daily routine of Spark, MNS Max Energy, Catalyst, Meal Replacement Shake, Amplify AT and OmegaPlex. Sometimes I just want to share some of our daily adventures.

Hmm, what to do for fun on a Saturday in Beaumont, Texas?

We could go to the beach, but gas prices have made that cost prohibitive.

So we check out The Examiner.com and find out that the Art Museum of SE Texas is holding another Free Family Arts Day. We LOVE Downtown and we LOVE AMSET.

The theme is "Things with Wings". Bird's, Angels, Butterflies and Dragons. The Gallery has some great boneyard photos, winged sculpture and beautiful bird paintings.

If you ever do this, plan to spend the entire 4 hours, there is so much to do and the kids (and parents) have a great time.

Now it is after 2 and we are pretty hungry. We were looking for a big sandwich, but The Barking Dog was closed. I can see some activity on Crockett Street.

Hog Wild is hosting a D.E.S.K. event. We head on over and grab some gumbo and listen to a fun band fronted by an 11 year old bass player singing some great tunes from Wilson Pickett to Eric Clapton and GNR covers.

But we're still hungry for a good sandwich. This late on a weekend afternoon it's gonna be tough to find what we want. We decide on Madison's and order up the best burgers in Beaumont.

We had a busy busy day. Our little Rock Star is asleep in her carseat before we get out of the parking lot.

Who says there's nothing fun to do in Beaumont?

Counting Down to Success School

I can't believe it is almost August already. We have been having a fantastic Summer. Good thing we did Commit2Fit before Summer really got started. It was a great way to drop a few pounds and pick up some good habits to keep fit during beach season.

To be honest, I have not been as consistent as I would like to have been about getting to the gym. And all that great Summertime food. We have enjoyed quite a bit of birthday cake and ice cream, and I already am on my second frequent flyer card from SnoBiz snow cone stand. The MNS Max Apetite Control and Carb Ease have really helped me to control my sugar. A couple of Crave Check before a party is always helpful, too.

I still drink plenty of water. My Meal Replacement Shake for breakfast and Muscle Gain, Snack Bars and Catalyst have helped to get lots of protein in several small meals throughout the day. I am getting my good fats with up to 3 OmegaPlex 3 times a day for a total of 9 each day. I am really paying attention to ingredient labels and, except for the occaisional piece of birthday cake, I have been staying away from enriched bleached flour.

Still, after listening to Jenny Donnelly on the team call , I realize that this really would be a great time to get started with the Lean in 13. Commit2Fit is a great way to learn some healthy habits that I will always keep with me, but Lean in 13 sounds like a good quick, healthy fix.

Lose 5 - 10 pounds or even more in the next 13 days? Sounds good to me! And I would be just finishing up during the weekend at Success School.

What a great story to share with everyone at the AdvoBeach party Saturday night in Dallas.

Exciting news about AdvoCare on SupplementalScience.com

Athletes are always looking for a competitive edge. When they find safe and effective products to enhance their performance that are free from any prohibited substances, they take notice.

One company that promotes fitness and wellness products and is popular among athletes is AdvoCare International, LP, a direct sales company based in Carrollton, Texas. Athletes from various sports choose AdvoCare as their source for nutritional supplementation. AdvoCare currently has seven sports endorsers who have qualified to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games.

Larsen Jensen qualified to represent the USA Swim Team in the freestyle. “Winning the 400m free and getting the American Record is a great accomplishment. There was so much talent in the field and I knew the other competitors could all close that last 100 meters, so I just gritted my teeth the last 50 meters and held on for the win. My training with Coach Salo at USC and the support of the AdvoCare products were instrumental in this win! I am looking forward to again representing the United States in the Olympics; it is a tremendous honor,” said Jensen.

AdvoCare has accumulated an impressive list of celebrity sports endorsers since the company started in 1993 from the sports and entertainment industries.

In case you missed it

Of course there is nothing like being right there in the room to hear Danny McDaniel talk about the Advocare Business Opportunity. But in case you were not able to attend tonight's meeting in Houston, you can catch this new online presentation.

Now I am back here at the computer - looking through blog widgets and posting tools. I have been trying to figure out how I can put up the entire Muscle Gain special right here - meantime, you will just have to follow the link.

Muscle Gain has become one of my favorite products. It's part of the Advocare Performance Elite line, but it really is fantastic for anyone needing to supplement protein.

Of course Muscle Gain is great for athletes wanting to feed their muscles. So many times I hear people trying to figure out whether or not to eat before they work out. Well, you gotta put fuel in the engine! But you don't want a bloated full feeling while you are exercising either. That's why Muscle Gain is perfect during the 30 minutes or so before your workout. I also like to Muscle Fuel for added nutrition and energy prior to exercising. Dr Hackman describes it as rocket fuel for your muscles!

It's also a great snack for anyone trying to lose weight. With 25 grams of protein and just 135 calories, Muscle Gain is an excellent lean protein source to help boost your energy and keep your metabolism burning.

Dr Judith Smith of the Advocare Sci/Med Board has talked about the importance of proper nutrition and supplementation for women during pregnancy. Protein is important for fetal development, and Muscle Gain provides that protein and is easy on your tummy and safe to take during pregnancy.

Dr Bob Ward, a member of the Advocare Sports Advisory Council, has mentioned Muscle Gain and Post Workout Recovery as beneficial to Seniors to prevent sarcopenia. Did you know that we start losing lean muscle at about 35 years old?

I just like the way Muscle Gain tastes. And it mixes easily in a shaker. I already have mentioned in my Commit2Fit food diary one of my favorite on the go snacks is Vanilla Muscle Gain with Peaches & Cream Fiber drink. I also like to get creative and add Muscle Gain to boost the protein in other foods. There quite a few recipes on the Advocare website. I add Muscle Gain to pancake mix, sprinkle it on oatmeal, make a creamy sauce to pour over fresh fruit. When my daughter wants chocolate milk, I just mix up a chocolate Muscle Gain shake for her.

I already have stocked up on Muscle Gain. This month's special is really a great deal! I have canisters of both Chocolate and Vanilla sitting on my kitchen counter right next to the blender, and packets ready to take with me when I leave the house.

Here's what's up

We have a special offer on one of my favorite Advocare products, Muscle Gain. And Thursday night in Houston Diane and Danny McDaniel will be giving a presentation on the Advocare Business Opportunity. The event will be at 7:37 PM at the Hilton Greenspoint in North Houston.

I really am excited about this. Danny is very clear and gives an excellent presentation.

It always is exciting to be in a crowded room with healthy like minded people ready to make a positive difference in their lives and their finances.

Commit2Fit Day 56

Today wraps up Commit2Fit. I am excited about all that I have learned and the great results that I have achieved.

I have been on vacation and even though I have a laptop now, I am not always able to pick up a wireless signal. That is why there has been a lapse in Commit2Fit entries.

Funny, the strongest signal that I got was while we were at the lakehouse in New Braunfels.

I did keep a journal the old fashioned way, pen & paper, and I will be updating my Commit2Fit progress over the next several days.

Bear with me, I also am unpacking, doing laundry, balancing the checkbook and catching up with Advocare business.

Keep checking back. I will be posting details about an upcoming event in Houston, and our product spotlight Muscle Gain.
